Do I Need A Reason For Vegetarianism

People all over the world decide to live a lifestyle that involves abstaining from eating any animal products. These people can choose a vegetarian diet that fulfills their body’s nutritional requirements and lets them live a long and healthy life. Why do vegetarians say they chose to live a meat-free life?

One of the most popular reasons that people give for this alternative lifestyle is the health benefit. We have all read the news about the use of hormones and other drugs in our beef cattle. Everyone knows about the dangers of e-coli and mad cow disease. These are really some important considerations when you decide to live your life without meats and animal products. There have been many people who have made the final decision on vegetarianism based on these very reasons.

The vegetarian lifestyle is very healthy, and with a little planning can be just as nutritionally beneficial as a diet containing meat and animal products. Most people that eat meat just do so out of habit. They probably have never even considered cutting meat out of their diet and replacing it with other healthy and delicious foods instead. Everybody can and should weigh their options and choose the diet that works best for them. Many people find that vegetarianism fits that bill perfectly.

Still other vegetarian people say that they eat the way they do because they object to the inhumane treatment of the animals. The meat production process in this country is truly barbaric, especially when you consider how advanced our culture is in other ways. The production of meat is a horrific process, one that would make even the most enthusiastic meat-eater think twice about what he is eating. The thing is, many people just don’t know what goes into the process of getting the meat they eat each day.

There is a way to eat a healthy diet that does not involve the killing of millions of animals every year. People who feel strongly about animals believe that every animal does not deserve the inhumane treatment they receive just to provide human beings with food.

In addition, many believe that human beings are not meant by design to eat meat. They believe that upon close examination of human teeth and internal digestive system, the conclusion would be that humans were built to be herbivores, not carnivores.

Another reasons cited for vegetarianism is environmental concerns. There is so much hype and concern over global warming these days, yet most people are completely ignorant of how cattle farms are negatively impacting the situation. Millions of cattle are bred specifically for producing meat. All the carbon in Earth’s stratosphere is largely due to cows, for they are huge producers of carbon. If you are really serious about wanting to do your part to safeguard the future of the Earth’s environment, then choosing to go vegetarian is the most important lifestyle change you can make.
